Two New Buildings Advance Health Sciences Education at LVC
Since 2017, CCM has managed all major capital projects on the LVC’s 53-building, 357-acre campus. CCM is responsible for capital project budgeting, master planning coordination, design and contractor selection, construction oversight, and project execution. Our work has included new buildings, renovations, athletic facilities, campus site improvements, and a myriad of deferred maintenance projects.
We recently oversaw the construction of two new academic buildings on the north side of campus. The 55,000 SF Arnold Health Professions Pavilion supports the Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Athletic Training, and Bachelor of Exercise Science programs. The high performance, LEED certified facility features technologically rich environments for hands-on learning experiences, including two specialized labs. Due to its analysis of human movement, the exercise lab required stringent construction tolerances. The Cadaver Lab incorporates specialized air conditioning systems to preserve specimens. The new building was delivered on schedule for the Fall 2018 semester with a savings of more than $200,000.
The second phase of construction created the new 37,500 SF Nursing Education Facility that connects to the adjacent Health Professions Pavilion. The state-of-the-art center provides simulation and skills laboratories, briefing rooms, classrooms, and the collaborative learning spaces needed to support the College’s nursing program. We managed the design team and construction manager selection and served as LVC’s owner’s representative throughout the project. The new facility was delivered on budget and within an aggressive 450-day schedule.
